What We Offer

Board positions

Our chapter is managed by a volunteer board. The board positions are held for one year and offer a range of opportunities for keeping up workplace skills if you are currently at home fulltime. Most importantly, participating in the board is a great way to get involved with the chapter and get to know other members. The board includes the following positions:
Co-Leader (2)
Treasurer
Secretary
Membership and Mentoring
Newsletter Editor and Design
Programming
Playgroups
Publicity
Mom’s Night Out
Member Support
Greeting
Communications
Volunteer Chair
Field Trips
Web Manager
Book Club

Mentoring

New members are welcomed into the organization through our mentoring program. Each new member is assigned a mentor who will help her connect with the group by attending events, answering questions and in general being available to the new member anything she may need to feel at home in the chapter.

Summer Picnic/Halloween Party

These annual events are widely attended and the whole family is invited to participate in the fun!

Mom’s Weekend Away

This annual getaway encourages us to relax and rejuvenate while getting better acquainted with our fellow members. Getaway spots have included Boyne Mountain and Toronto.

General Meeting

The General Meeting occurs on the first Thursday of each month and includes programming specifically of interest to moms. The programming generally reflects aspects of the national organizations goals and ideals. Topics have included healthy foods, budgeting, parenting techniques, yoga, gardening, etc.

Informal Meeting/Mom’s Night Out

The informal meeting and Mom’s Night alternate months. The informal meeting is hosted at members home on a voluntary basis. It is also an opportunity to WOW (work on whatever!) so bring along your craft project. It is a relaxed opportunity to visit with other members. Mom’s Night Out events could be anything from cooking classes, to spa night, to painting pottery, to meeting at the brewery for a beer and pool!

Book Club

Meet fellow members monthly to discuss the latest book we’ve read as a group. Books are suggested by members one to two months in advance and voted on at the meetings.

Playgroups

Playgroups are a great social opportunity for both moms and children. Playgroups are organized on a volunteer basis and may be held in your home or at a park. Each playgroup is open to all members. Playgroups may be held anytime that is convenient for the hostess. While mornings are most popular, we also have evening, afternoon and the occasional weekend playgroup.

Field Trips

One field trip is planned monthly on a weekday and several field trips throughout the year are planned on weekends in order to include families with older children. Field trips have included visits to nature centers, pie factories, the zoo, bowling, and story time at the local library.

Member Support

Every family experiences a time when a little help is welcome. Our Member Support coordinator fields requests for assistance in just these times and coordinates efforts to help with volunteers from the chapter
